Dear District 103 Community,

As the 2017-2018 school year comes to a close, I would like to thank all of our students, parents, staff and community members for another engaging year. Everyone has contributed to our students' learning, and we are ready for a summer break.

Each year, some very special staff members retire from our District, leaving a legacy of character, wisdom, and academic excellence. Each retiring member has contributed to the success of our children and has made their lives better having served in the District. This year, we have one retiree, Kim Sylvan, who has served the district for 10 years as our Communications Coordinator. We wish Kim well in her next phase in life and will miss her commitment, drive and service in our District.

We have achieved much this year, including: the first year of new start times for Sprague and Daniel Wright, new learning spaces at Sprague and Half Day schools, 5th-grade moving to Half Day, Standards Based Grading implementation planning for the 2018-2019 school year, updated safety and security protocols, and a new partnership with the Lake County Forest Preserve District for our environmental education needs. Congratulations, District 103, on another successful year!

We would like to wish our 2018 eighth-grade graduates good luck, as they move on to high school as the new freshmen class of 2022!

Thank you for your partnership with District 103 as a community of "Leaders in Learning." I wish you a very wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you again in the fall.

With gratitude,

Scott Warren, Superintendent
