Guidance for Families with BYO iPads

Dear Families with Bring-Your-Own (BYO) iPads,

The first day of our 2016-2017 school year is almost here, and we are putting the final touches on our 1:1 Teaching & Learning program. This eNotice provides important guidance for families with students who used BYO iPads last year.

Bring-Your-Own (BYO) iPad

The District has begun to un-enroll BYO devices from our device management software. You will soon notice that all District owned apps will be pulled back and will begin to disappear from your personal device.

Below are the steps necessary for BYO iPad families to complete now:

Step #1: Delete the D103 configuration profile that may be installed on your device. This will remove any and all D103 configurations and settings from your BYO device.

  • Go to Settings > General > Device Management (MDM Profile) tap on the app’s configuration profile.
  • Then tap Remove Mangement.

Step #2: Review the grade level app list associated with the school where your child will attend for the 2016-2017 school year. We’ve made every effort to provide the most comprehensive app list possible, but app requirements are subject to change and are dependent on the learning environment.

* Please keep in mind that the total cost of the apps will be greatest during the initial setup. Following school years will be significantly less because the majority of apps will be owned by the family. *

Step #3: Decide which Apple ID you will use to purchase the above grade level apps, and begin downloading. You will associate this Apple ID to your BYO device.

* Although not necessary to use for the upcoming school year, please keep in mind that D103 families were asked to create Under 13 Apple IDs for their students during the 2015-2016 school year. *

Sincerely,
RJ Bialk, Director of Technology & Assessment
