Over the last several years, District 103 has been exploring world language programs, gathering feedback from our community, and creating an implementation plan to expand world language instruction for our students. In March 2013, our Board of Education approved a new World Language program for our students that launched this fall. Highlights of the new World Language program follow:
- Program Model is content-enriched FLES; uses a foreign language to teach subject content from the regular school curriculum; focus is not on language instruction alone.
- Language is Spanish
- Grades K, 2, 4 & 6: begin world language instruction Fall 2013
- Grades 1, 3 & 5 begin world language instruction Fall 2014
We will continue to evaluate and address goals for the program. Please see the following links for the final report, program summary, and progress updates on the committee work.
