Our 2023 DW Musical is …
-
Join our musical production behind the scenes! Applications for Mary Poppins backstage crew are now available in Mr. Clark's room (124) and on our website. Completed applications are due to Mr. Clark by Feb. 23.
Students, please join our Auditions Google Classroom page by using class code n5vovco or by clicking the following link: Mary Poppins Auditions GC page.
Purpose of the Activity
-
Musical is for all students who are interested in being part of our annual Broadway musical production. If you are someone who loves to sing, dance, and act, you should audition for the cast or apply to be on stage crew!
Cast List
-
Dear students,
Please read this message in its entirety before proceeding to view the cast list.
Over the past week of auditions, we have been overwhelmed by your extraordinary skill, talent, and experience. More than that, we have found joy in your support, passion, and peer encouragement. Creating a production company is one of the most challenging parts of the production process. Each of you who auditioned shared a part of yourself with us, and for that, we thank you.
When you open the cast list, please remember that these decisions, these shows, this process, is not the end-all be-all. It is one experience in a stream of many you will encounter in your life. It is one show amidst a lifetime of plays and artistic experiences. Do not let this show define you. Remember that casting is a puzzle, and as directors, we put it all together, finding the best place for everyone for that particular show. The best thing you can do is to be resilient and continue to better yourself as a person and artist through classes and a continued commitment to growth.
For those wishing to receive feedback on your auditions, please reach out directly to Mr. Clark, Ms. Emily, or Ms. Margaret to schedule a time to meet.
If you weren't cast, remember that there is still a place for you in this show! Everyone is welcome to apply for stage crew, and we encourage you to do so. Information will be released in late January. Not sure what any of this entails? Contact Mr. Clark, Ms. Emily, or Ms. Margaret, and we will help you find your place!
Finally, we implore you to consider the sense of GRIT it takes to persevere in the fine arts and throughout your life:
GROWTH: How can I grow from this experience?
RESILIENCE: How can I commit to springing back up, dusting myself off and recovering from disappointment?
INSTINCT: How can I act on my instincts to create opportunities for myself that didn't otherwise exist?
TENACITY: How can I move forward no matter what, even if my journey seems tough?
Our first cast meeting is this Monday, Dec. 5, 3:45–4:55 p.m. Attendance is required. Please come to Room 124 (Mr. Clark's classroom) after school.
Enjoy your weekend, and congratulations to all of you for undertaking the audition process!
Sincerely,
Mr. Clark, Ms. Emily, and Ms. Margaret
