Communicable Diseases
-
The school will observe the guidelines and recommendations of the Lake County Health Department and the Illinois Department of Public Health regarding reporting and notification of communicable diseases in the school setting.
-
Guardians are required to notify the school nurse if they suspect their child has a communicable disease or upon diagnosis.
-
Students with a communicable disease will be excluded from school or sent home from school following the notification of the parent/guardian, usually a 24 hour period is observed after diagnosis.
-
Students can return after being on medication after 24 hours and fever, vomiting and diarrhea free for at least 24 hours.
-
Information letters provided by the Lake County Health Department are sent to parents/guardians to assist in controlling the spread of disease.
-
A student excluded because of a communicable disease may be required upon return to school to present a letter from the student’s doctor stating that the student is no longer contagious or at risk of spreading the communicable disease.
