School Emergencies and Safety
Emergencies and School Closing Information
As an elementary district serving young children, we recognize that you rely on us to keep our schools open, providing that it is safe to do so.
In the unlikely event of a school closing or Late Arrival Day, we will notify parents in a number of ways:
- Website Announcement
- Emergency notification through texting messaging, phone call, and email
- TV/Radio announcements through the Emergency School Closing Center.
- Our emergency notification System integrates with PowerSchool (our Student Information System) and broadcasts messages using contact information (e.g., home phone, cell phone, and/or email address) provided by parents/guardians during online student registration.
Please understand there can be temporary delays when communication lines are stretched beyond capacity, such as when high volumes of messages are sent throughout the United States. Emergency notifications are sent to phone numbers and email addresses stored in our PowerSchool Student Information System that are provided by parents and staff.
We use the Emergency School Closing Center to broadcast information on local TV and AM radio stations. Search for our facilities Dist #103 Lincolnshire-Prairie View District; Daniel Wright; Half Day; Laura Sprague. These broadcasts may only update information in 30-minute intervals. AM Radio: WGN (720); WBBM (780) TV Stations: CBS 2; NBC 5; ABC 7; WGN 9; FOX 32.
E-learning and Learning from Home
E-learning may or may not be available when there is a school closure due to the availability of materials, the nature of the closure, and timing. You will be notified as to whether or not E-learning can be accommodated for the day. For questions about the E-learning procedures, please read the Frequently Asked Questions Google Doc.
