Standardized Testing

In the fall, winter, and spring, District 103 students (grades 1-8) take the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) tests for reading and math. The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is also administered to students in grades 2, 4, and 6, and students who are new to the district. The CogAT assesses students’ abilities in reasoning and problem solving using verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal (spatial) symbols.

State Required Testing

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) requires that all school districts assess the proficiency of all pupils enrolled in grades 3-8 in English Language Arts and math, and science for students enrolled in grades 5 and 8.

Local Assessments

District 103 uses local assessments as a means of monitoring the curriculum and the competencies of all students in grades K-8.
