School District 103 Late Arrival Procedures, 2017-2018
Scheduled Days and Nonscheduled (e.g., Weather Related) Days
Lincolnshire-Prairie View School District 103 will implement two scheduled Late Arrival days during 2017-2018: October 19, 2017, and April 19, 2018, for teacher professional development. Additionally, the late arrival procedures will be implemented on nonscheduled (e.g., weather related) days when there is clear evidence that students can be transported to school safely 90 minutes later than the usual school starting time. The late arrival procedures provide the flexibility to begin school 90 minutes later than usual during weather related conditions, allowing time for roads to be cleared and temperatures to rise. This procedure eliminates a situation in which severe weather during the early morning previously led to a decision to close schools for an entire day.
On “Late Arrival” days, Laura B. Sprague School will start at 9:45 a.m. and end at 2:45 p.m. Students in the Extended Day & AM Early Childhood classes, as well as the AM Kindergarten class, will attend school, which will begin at 9:45 a.m. and end at their normal times. The Early Childhood PM and afternoon Kindergarten bus routes will operate as normal per their typical schedule. Half Day School will start at 10:30 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. on a Late Arrival day. Daniel Wright Junior High School will start at 10:00 a.m. and end at 3:35 p.m. on a Late Arrival day.
Lunches & 103 Club
Quest will offer lunch and operate as normal on scheduled and nonscheduled Late Arrival days. Before school, The 103 Club will operate (at Sprague) on a Late Arrival day for families with children actively enrolled in the program. The 103 Club will operate after school in the afternoon as usual.
On Late Arrival days, buses will arrive at students’ scheduled pick-up stops approximately 90 minutes later than the regularly scheduled pick up time. Please note this exception: The Early Childhood PM and afternoon Kindergarten bus routes will operate as normal per their typical schedule.
Students who walk or are driven to school should arrive at (not prior to) the times listed below.
- Laura B. Sprague Elementary School
- Extended Day Early Childhood, AM Early Childhood, AM Kindergarten, Full Day Kindergarten, First Grade & Second Grade: 9:40 a.m.
- PM Kindergarten Class: 11:50 a.m.
