Springfield Field Trip

Seventh-graders are encouraged to travel to Springfield, Illinois, to experience their social studies curriculum come to life! The Class of 2024 will take coach buses from DW on Thursday morning, May 18, and return in the evening on Friday, May 19. This is a school trip and those not attending will be at DW with an adaptive schedule and provided alternative curriculum.

Please register through WorldStrides Educational Travel & Experiences online portal or call 877-545-0700. Review the Springfield flyer for details about registering, the field trip, and payment information.

This is a school-sponsored trip, meaning the activities are supported by the curriculum taught in the seventh-grade. Attendance is mandatory because the tour dates fall on school days. If your student is not going on the class trip to Springfield, they are expected to be in attendance at Daniel Wright on May 18-19. An alternative curriculum is provided to students not going to Springfield. If you know your seventh-grader is NOT attending the Springfield trip, please let Kristine Rickert at and Kristin Edmonds at know as soon as possible. The school requires a written email parent communication confirmation that your student is not attending the overnight trip. Communication cannot come through the student.

The deadline to register is Thursday, February 23. Chaperones are all D103 staff members; parents are not asked to chaperone.

As we near the time of travel (April), we will host a parent meeting to discuss food options/dietary restrictions, accommodations, rooming, itinerary, and departure/arrival times.

We are so excited to get the Springfield ball rolling! The kids were SO excited to get the information to share with their families! Thank you for supporting the program!
