Library Checkouts and Returns
This year, your child will bring home a book, or books, from the school library each week. They may keep their book/s for one week. Books should be returned on or before your child’s library day.
When books are not being read, it is suggested to always keep the book/s in their backpacks, so they will always be easily located for returns.
As a reminder, the purpose of your child's library books is to provide a window for exploring their interests, and to develop a love of literature and learning. The books they bring home may or may not be at an independent reading level, depending on what your child chooses. Reading the pictures or listening to a family member read aloud is part of the process of learning to read. We want all students to be excited about books and not to be limited in their opportunities for exploration, because of their current reading level.
Second-graders bring home 3 books each week and are allowed to have up to 6 books at a time at home. Once they have 6 books at home, we wait until some books are returned before students check out more books.
First-graders bring home 2 books each week and are allowed to have up to 4 books at a time at home. Once they have 4 books at home, we wait until some books are returned before students check out more books.
Kindergartners bring home 1 book each week and are allowed to have up to 2 books at a time at home. Once they have 2 books at home, we wait until some books are returned before students check out more books.
Thank you for your support in keeping our library collection circulating!
