"Do you know what foods are fruits and which ones are vegetables?" A Stevenson High School student asked a group of kindergartners. "Bell pepper?" It's actually a fruit, the teenager informed the students. And so the discussion went.
A team of young ladies from Stevenson met with kindergartners to educate them about a mission close to their hearts addressing food insecurity. The group is part of larger initiative under the H.U.N.G.E.R. organization and specifically Project U.N.I.T.Y. The team shared good foods and not so good foods with students. They also had students draw pictures of healthy foods and healthy portion sizes as seen in these school photos.
What happens when food enters our body? Students were asked
"Food goes through pipes in our body," said Kindergartner Roland Schneider.
