Sprague Needs Adult Shoeboxes

Parents, please hold onto your adult shoeboxes for an upcoming Operation Shoebox Packing Project. The second-grade team plans to fill them with school supplies, toiletries, socks, and small toys or stuffed animals. We will collect them in late September or early October.

This program is called Operation Shoebox and is organized through Samaritan's Purse International Relief project. The purpose of this activity is to pack shoeboxes full of school supplies, toiletries, toys and treats to send to children in third world countries for the winter holidays.

Specifically, the team is collecting:

  • adult-size shoeboxes
  • extra new school supplies (if you find any great end-of-season sales on things such as notebooks, crayons, markers, pencils, pencil sharpeners, etc., feel free to stock up)
  • toiletries (bars of soap, washcloths, toothbrushes, toothpaste, combs, etc. ... no liquids permitted)
  • new pairs of socks (for ages 2-15)
  • small new or gently used toys/stuffed animals (things that can fit in a shoebox)
  • non-chocolate, nut-free candy

In addition, if you are interested in helping organize and orchestrate this packing activity for the 2nd grade, please email Sue Vani atsvani@d103.org.
