Wednesday, Nov.13, marked the end of the first trimester for the 2019–2020 school year.
First trimester report cards were viewable for Half Day students through the Unified Classroom Parent Portal on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
To access your child's report card, please follow the steps below to obtain this information.
Log in to your Unified Classroom Parent Portal
Select Quick Links along the left side of the screen.
Select Current Grades and Attendance from the PowerSchool drop down list.
Select Visual Progress Report (K-5) (tab): Click on this tab to see your student's report card.
This report provides information about your child's performance according to the grade-level expectations established by District 103 for our student community. Below are descriptors to help you better understand your child's development so far this year. Specific information regarding progress with the skills and content taught each trimester is addressed in the comments.
CM (Consistently Meets Standard)
The student consistently demonstrates a complete understanding of the grade-level standard by independently applying and connecting knowledge and skills with accuracy and quality.
FM (Frequently Meets Standard)
The student frequently grasps and applies most key concepts, processes and skills, but may need additional support at times to meet grade-level standard.
AP (Approaching Standard)
The student often requires additional practice and support to show progress on grade-level standard.
BG (Beginning Standard)
The student regularly requires additional practice and support to show progress on grade-level standard.
NA or "grayed out" (Not Assessed This Trimester)
Areas that are "grayed out" or have NA indicated have not been assessed this trimester.
Additionally, the Half Day School report card includes a section to evaluate students' social emotional learning (SEL) and growth. The statements on the report card were chosen because of their strong link to Illinois' Social Emotional Learning Standards and the core competencies indicated by the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning (CASEL). Specifically, students are evaluated in the following areas:
- Self-Awareness and Self-Management
- Social Awareness and Relationship Skills
- Responsible Decision Making
Teachers have embraced teaching SEL through the use of the Second Step curriculum in their classrooms. This gives teachers an avenue to model and demonstrate different social emotional skills through a direct instruction approach. Further, teachers continue to promote social emotional learning through more informal experiences throughout the school day and across school settings. Please keep in mind that like much of the learning at this age range, all students' social emotional learning is emerging, developing, and continuing to evolve.
