Fit for Life

On a recent winter day, fourth graders jumped rope as part of their PE curriculum and Jump Week for the annual Kid's Heart Challenge. Collectively students raised over $3,000 for the American Heart Association during this challenge..

"We teach the students how jump roping is a 4-star exercise because it benefits and improves all areas of physical fitness - muscle strength, muscle endurance , flexibility and cardiovascular endurance," said Half Day PE Teacher Jeff Helstad. Mr. Helstad, along with other PE teachers, emphasizes to students that jumping rope also helps to improve coordination and agility as well as supports sports like tennis , basketball, soccer and dance. Please visit the school's Facebook page for more pictures of the jump roping activity.
