Fourth-graders got a taste of farming, agriculture, and industry when the Illinois State Fair visited Half Day School. Students have been studying the history of their state. They collaborated on investigating our state's history and geographical features. Students popped popcorn, played with newborn chicks, planted seeds in a pretend field, and learned about the state government during the event.
Kelsey LaBelle shared, “The Illinois State Fair provides fourth-graders with an immersive learning experience that goes beyond what we do in the classroom. The event connects the world outside Half Day and provides a greater lens to all of Illinois and its offerings. The kids love it!”
